Subscription Plan
The item, price and billing interval a Subscription charges. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Subscription Plan describes one thing you bill on repeat: the item, the price or price list, the billing interval such as every 1 month or every 12 months, and optionally a payment gateway. It posts nothing; it is the price card the Subscription reads. The item on the plan decides the income account and the item tax template, so pick a service item whose default account is the right revenue head. One plan can serve many subscriptions, which keeps pricing consistent, and a subscription can hold several plans, for example hosting plus support. Change the plan price and only invoices generated afterwards use the new rate.
Formula
Plan charge per cycle = Cost x Quantity on the subscription row
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Invoicing > Subscription Plan > New and name it, for example Maintenance Monthly.
- 02Pick the Item, for example Website Support, and set Price Determination to Fixed Rate.
- 03Enter the Cost, for example 5,000, and set Billing Interval Month with count 1.
- 04Save, then add the plan to one or more Subscriptions.
When to use it
Create under Accounts > Subscription Plan, then add it to one or more Subscriptions.
Example from the demo books
