Customer Group
A tree that classifies customers, for example Commercial, Individual or Government, with optional default price list and payment terms. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Customer Group is a label in a tree, such as Individual, Commercial or Government, that every customer must carry. It never touches the ledger, but it does two useful jobs. First, it can hold a default Price List and Payment Terms Template, so new customers in the group inherit the right prices and credit days. Second, it is a filter and grouping column on the Sales Register, Sales Analytics and the Accounts Receivable Summary, so you can see how much of Rs 32,000 of net sales came from individuals and how much from companies. Keep the tree shallow; a group with one customer in it tells you nothing.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Selling > Customer Group > New.
- 02Enter the name and pick the parent group, usually All Customer Groups.
- 03Optionally set a default Price List and Payment Terms Template for the group.
- 04Save, then pick this group on each Customer form.
- 05Open Financial Reports > Sales Register and filter by Customer Group to compare groups.
When to use it
Set up under Selling > Customer Group and pick one on every Customer. Use it to filter the Sales Register.
