Industry Type
A list of industries, such as Tourism or Retail, used to describe customers. No ledger effect.
In detail
Industry Type is a plain list of industries, such as Tourism, Hospitality, Retail or Education, that you can pick on a Customer of type Company. It stores only the name and nothing posts because of it. Its value is in analysis: filter the Customer list or group the Sales Analytics report by industry to see which sectors buy most from you, and use it when deciding where to market. Because the field is optional many businesses leave it blank; if you want the reports to be useful, decide on a short list and fill it consistently when you create customers.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Selling > Industry Type > New.
- 02Enter the industry name, for example Hospitality, and Save.
- 03Open a Customer of type Company and pick the industry in the Industry field.
- 04Group the Customer list or Sales Analytics by Industry to compare sectors.
When to use it
Pick it on the Customer form; it is only for reporting and filtering.
Example from the demo books
Mark a hotel customer as Hospitality to compare sales across industries.
