Selling and invoicing

Territory

A tree of regions, for example Nepal > Bagmati > Kathmandu, used to tag customers and set sales targets. No ledger effect.

In detail

Territory is a tree of regions, such as Nepal, then Bagmati, then Kathmandu, that tags each customer with where they are. It has no accounting effect; it exists for reporting and targets. The territory on the Customer copies to every Quotation, Sales Order and Sales Invoice, so the Territory-wise Sales report and Sales Analytics can total net sales by region and the Target Variance report can compare them with the targets you set on the territory. For a Nepali business the provinces make a natural second level and districts or cities a third. Change the territory on the customer, not on old invoices, or the history will be inconsistent.

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Selling > Territory > New.
  2. 02Enter the name and the parent, for example Kathmandu under Bagmati under Nepal.
  3. 03Optionally add a Territory Manager and yearly targets in the Targets table.
  4. 04Save and pick the territory on each Customer; it copies to their documents.
  5. 05Open Financial Reports > Territory-wise Sales to read net sales by region.

When to use it

Define under Selling > Territory and choose one on each Customer; it copies onto their invoices.

Example from the demo books

Tag Jivan Dahal with Kathmandu and the Territory-wise Sales report shows Rs 32,000 of net sales for Kathmandu.
