Sales Partner
Also called: Dealer, agent, reseller
A third party who resells your products for a commission. Invoices tagged with a partner compute commission on net total. No ledger effect until commission is paid.
In detail
A Sales Partner is an outside dealer, agent or reseller who brings you sales for a commission, which is why it is separate from Sales Person, who is your own staff. When a Sales Invoice names a partner, BRAccount computes commission on the net total at the partner's rate and stores it on the invoice, but it posts nothing: Debtors, Sale of Goods and VAT Payable are unchanged. The commission becomes an expense only when you book it, usually by a monthly Journal Entry or a Purchase Invoice from the agency, and TDS may apply to that payment. The Sales Partner Commission Summary report totals what each partner has earned so you can settle it.
Formula
Commission = Net total x Commission rate; Rs 32,000 x 5% = Rs 1,600
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Selling > Sales Partner > New.
- 02Enter the name, choose a Sales Partner Type and set the Commission Rate, for example 5.
- 03Save, then pick the partner in the More Info section of a Sales Invoice; the commission fills in.
- 04Submit the invoice; the commission is recorded on it but nothing posts yet.
- 05At month end open Financial Reports > Sales Partner Commission Summary and book the total by Journal Entry.
When to use it
Create under Selling > Sales Partner with a commission rate, pick it on a Sales Invoice, then pay the commission by Journal Entry.
Example from the demo books
A Pokhara agency on 5% commission earns Rs 1,600 on a Rs 32,000 invoice, booked later by Journal Entry.
