Selling and invoicing

Sales Person

A tree of staff who earn credit or commission on sales. Invoices can split their value between sales persons. No ledger effect.

In detail

A Sales Person is a member of staff who gets credit for a sale, arranged in a tree so a manager can roll up a team. It never posts to the ledger; commission, if any, is paid later through payroll or a Journal Entry. On a Sales Order or Sales Invoice the Sales Team table splits the net total between one or more people by percentage, and that split drives the Sales Person-wise Transaction Summary, the Sales Person Target Variance report and the commission amount shown on the row. Link each Sales Person to an Employee so the names stay consistent. If the table is left empty the sale is credited to nobody and the reports undercount.

Formula

Contribution = Net total x Allocated percentage; Rs 32,000 x 100% = Rs 32,000

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Selling > Sales Person > New.
  2. 02Enter the name, link the Employee, pick the parent node and set a Commission Rate if used.
  3. 03Save, then open a Sales Order or Sales Invoice and expand the Sales Team section.
  4. 04Add the Sales Person with Allocated Percentage, usually 100; the contribution amount fills in.
  5. 05Submit the document and open Financial Reports > Sales Person-wise Transaction Summary to see the credit.

When to use it

Create under Selling > Sales Person, link an Employee, and add them in the Sales Team table of Orders and Invoices.

Example from the demo books

Give the demo sales person 100% of ACC-SINV-2026-00004 and the Sales Person-wise summary credits Rs 32,000 to them.
