Product Bundle
Also called: Kit, package
A sellable item made of several stock items. Selling the bundle issues each component from stock while the invoice shows one line.
In detail
A Product Bundle sells several stock items as one line. The parent item, for example Welcome Kit, is a non stock item that the customer sees on the invoice at one price; the bundle lists the components, one bag, one cap and one bottle, with quantities. When the Delivery Note or a Sales Invoice with Update Stock is submitted, each component leaves the warehouse at its own valuation, so Cost of Goods Sold is debited and Stock In Hand credited for the sum of the components, while income and VAT post on the bundle's selling price. The Packed Items table on the document shows the breakdown. Stock reports track the components; the bundle itself never has a stock balance.
Formula
Cost of a bundle sale = Sum of component quantity x component valuation rate; income = bundle rate x quantity
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Create the parent item under Stock > Item with Maintain Stock unticked.
- 02Go to Selling > Product Bundle > New and pick that parent item.
- 03Add one row per component with its quantity, then Save.
- 04Add the bundle to a Sales Order or Sales Invoice; the Packed Items table lists the components.
- 05Submit the Delivery Note or invoice with Update Stock; each component moves out and COGS posts.
When to use it
Create under Selling > Product Bundle with a non stock parent item and component rows.
