Coupon Code
A code a customer enters to unlock a Pricing Rule discount, with a usage limit and validity. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Coupon Code is a word or code a customer gives you, such as DASHAIN10, that unlocks a Pricing Rule only when it is typed on the Sales Invoice or order. The code has a validity period and a maximum number of uses, and BRAccount counts each use. Nothing posts because of the coupon; the linked Pricing Rule discounts the line rates and the invoice posts income and VAT on the reduced amount as usual. The Pricing Rule behind it must have Is Coupon Based ticked, otherwise it would apply to everyone without a code. Coupons are the simplest way to measure which promotion actually brought customers in.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Create a Pricing Rule for the discount and tick Coupon Code Based on it.
- 02Go to Selling > Coupon Code > New, enter the name and the code, for example DASHAIN10.
- 03Link the Pricing Rule, set Valid From, Valid Upto and Maximum Use, then Save.
- 04On a Sales Invoice type the code in the Coupon Code field; the discount applies to matching lines.
- 05Open the Coupon Code later to read how many times it was used.
When to use it
Create under Selling > Coupon Code linked to a Pricing Rule; enter the code on the Sales Invoice.
Example from the demo books
