Selling and invoicing

POS Settings

Global point of sale options: which invoice type the POS creates, extra item search fields, and whether change given is posted. No ledger effect.

In detail

POS Settings is a single settings page for all counters. Invoice Type decides whether the Point of Sale creates POS Invoices, which post only at the POS Closing Entry, or plain Sales Invoices, which post at once; the second option suits a shop that wants each sale in the ledger immediately and does not need the consolidated closing. Other options add extra item search fields, allow a sale to be completed with a short payment, and decide whether change given to the customer is posted to a separate account. Nothing posts from the settings page itself. Change Invoice Type only between shifts, because open shifts expect the type they started with.

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Invoicing > POS Settings.
  2. 02Set Invoice Type to POS Invoice for consolidated posting at closing, or Sales Invoice for immediate posting.
  3. 03Tick Allow Partial Payment if a counter may close a sale with an outstanding amount.
  4. 04Add any extra Item Search Fields, for example barcode or batch, and Save.

When to use it

Open Accounts > POS Settings once when setting up counters.

Example from the demo books

Set Invoice Type to Sales Invoice so counter sales post at once instead of at the POS Closing Entry.
