Stock Qty vs Batch Qty
Items where total batch quantities do not add up to the item's stock quantity.
In detail
Stock Qty vs Batch Qty checks that, for every batch tracked item and warehouse, the quantities of all its batches add up to the item's stock quantity in the Bin, the summary record behind Stock Balance. They drift when batch tracking is switched on for an item that already had stock, when a Stock Reconciliation sets a quantity without naming a batch, or when a bundle was corrected without a repost. The result is that Stock Balance says 100 while the batch list offers only 95 to pick from, and a sale of the last 5 fails. Item stock 100 with batches summing to 95 shows a difference of 5. Run it after enabling batches on existing items.
Formula
Per item and warehouse: Sum of batch balances - Bin actual qty = 0; a row appears when the difference is not zero
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Financial Reports > Stock Qty vs Batch Qty, or find it under Stock reports.
- 02Set Company and optionally Item or Warehouse.
- 03Read Item, Warehouse, Stock Qty, Batch Qty and Difference per row.
- 04For a positive difference, post a Stock Reconciliation naming the batch for the untracked quantity.
- 05For a bundle problem, fix it as the Incorrect Serial and Batch Bundle report describes.
- 06Create a Repost Item Valuation for the item and warehouse, then rerun until the difference is zero.
When to use it
Run after enabling batch tracking on an existing item.
Example from the demo books
