Incorrect Serial No Valuation
Serialised stock entries where the valuation rate used differs from the serial number's purchase rate.
In detail
Incorrect Serial No Valuation applies to serialised items, where each unit has its own serial number and its own cost: the valuation rate used when a serial number leaves stock must equal the rate at which that same serial number came in. BRAccount lists outgoing rows whose rate differs from the incoming rate of the serial numbers on them, which happens after a backdated receipt, a late Landed Cost Voucher or a bad repost. The effect is a wrong Cost of Goods Sold on that sale and a wrong stock value for the units still in hand. A laptop received at Rs 1,00,000 but issued at Rs 95,000 valuation is listed with the Rs 5,000 gap.
Formula
Per outgoing row: Valuation rate used - Incoming valuation rate of the same serial numbers = 0; a row appears when it is not
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Financial Reports > Incorrect Serial No Valuation, or find it under Stock reports.
- 02Set Company, From Date and To Date; optionally Item or Serial No.
- 03Read Serial No, Outgoing Voucher, Rate Used, Incoming Rate and Difference per row.
- 04Open the incoming voucher to confirm the correct purchase rate for that serial number.
- 05Create a Repost Item Valuation for the item and warehouse from the incoming posting date and submit.
- 06Rerun after the job and check Gross Profit for the affected sales.
When to use it
Run for serialised items when margins or stock value look wrong.
