Stock Ledger Variance
Runs the invariant checks across every item and lists those with a quantity, value or FIFO queue variance.
In detail
Stock Ledger Variance runs the same invariant checks as Stock Ledger Invariant Check but across every item and warehouse at once, and lists only those with a quantity variance, a value variance or a FIFO queue variance, with the size of each gap. It is the overview to run after a large data import, after enabling or disabling Allow Negative Stock, or after a batch of reposts, to see which items still need attention instead of checking them one by one. An item whose ledger balance shows 50 while its entries add to 48 appears with a variance of 2. Items with a value variance also distort Cost of Goods Sold and gross profit, so fix them before month end.
Formula
Qty variance = Qty after transaction - Sum of actual qty to date; Value variance = Stock value - Qty after x Valuation rate
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Financial Reports > Stock Ledger Variance, or find it under Stock reports.
- 02Set Company and optionally Item, Warehouse or Include Disabled Items.
- 03Read Item, Warehouse, Qty Variance, Value Variance and FIFO Queue Variance per row.
- 04Open Stock Ledger Invariant Check for one listed item to find the first failing voucher.
- 05Create a Repost Item Valuation for each listed item and warehouse from that voucher's posting date and submit.
- 06Rerun after the jobs complete; the list should be empty.
When to use it
Run when a report shows one quantity and the item page shows another.
