Selling and invoicing

Payment Term

One rule for when part of an invoice falls due, for example 50% in 15 days. No ledger effect.

In detail

A Payment Term is one rule for when a share of an invoice falls due: a name, the portion as a percentage or amount, and the credit days or the day of the next month. Alone it posts nothing and changes no amount; it exists to be combined into a Payment Terms Template, which then splits every invoice into due rows. Those due dates are what the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable reports age against, so the ageing buckets are only as good as the terms you define. Typical Nepali terms are Advance (0 days), Net 15 and Net 30; define a term once and reuse it in several templates rather than creating near duplicates.

Formula

Due date = Invoice date + Credit days; portion due = Grand total x Invoice portion %

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Invoicing > Payment Term > New.
  2. 02Enter the name, for example Net 30, and Invoice Portion 100.
  3. 03Choose Due Date Based On Day(s) after invoice date and Credit Days 30.
  4. 04Optionally set a Discount for early payment with its own days, then Save.
  5. 05Add the term to a Payment Terms Template; it then applies to invoices.

When to use it

Create under Accounts > Payment Term and combine terms in a Payment Terms Template.
