Unreconcile Payment
Removes the link between a payment and the invoices it was allocated to, leaving both open again. Reverses the allocation only.
In detail
Unreconcile Payment breaks the link between a Payment Entry and the invoices it was allocated to, without cancelling the payment. The money stays in the bank account and the party balance is unchanged, because no GL row moves; only the Payment Ledger allocation is reversed, so the invoice shows its outstanding again and the payment shows an unallocated amount. It is the fix for a receipt matched to the wrong invoice or to the wrong customer's invoice when the customer and the party are still correct. If the party itself was wrong you must cancel and amend the Payment Entry instead. Submitted unreconcile records lock as a trail of what was undone.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Open the submitted Payment Entry and click Actions > Unreconcile.
- 02Tick the invoices in the References list to unlink and click Unreconcile.
- 03An Unreconcile Payment document is created and submitted; no GL rows change.
- 04The invoices show their outstanding again and the payment shows the unallocated amount.
- 05Go to Payments > Payment Reconciliation to allocate the payment to the right invoice.
When to use it
Create from the Payment Entry's Unreconcile button when a payment was matched to the wrong invoice. Submitted entries lock.
Example from the demo books
Unlink ACC-PAY-2026-00001 from ACC-SINV-2026-00004 so it can be allocated elsewhere.
