Journal Entry Template

A saved layout of accounts for a recurring Journal Entry so you only fill in amounts. No ledger effect.

In detail

A Journal Entry Template saves the layout of a Journal Entry you post again and again: the voucher type, the company and a list of accounts, so the monthly entry needs only the amounts filled in. It posts nothing by itself. Typical templates are monthly rent with its TDS Payable row, salary accrual, and the bank charges entry. Using a template makes sure the same accounts are hit every month, which keeps the Profit and Loss Statement comparable month to month and stops a junior bookkeeper from inventing a new expense head each time. Change the template when accounts change; old entries keep what they had.

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Invoicing > Journal Entry Template > New.
  2. 02Enter the Template Title, for example Monthly Rent, and choose the Voucher Type and Company.
  3. 03Add the account rows, for example Office Rent, Rent Payable and TDS Payable, without amounts.
  4. 04Save, then on a new Journal Entry pick the template in the From Template field.
  5. 05The rows appear; type the amounts, Save and Submit.

When to use it

Create under Accounts > Journal Entry Template and pick it on a new Journal Entry.
