Voucher type: Journal Entry
The default entry type for general adjustments between any accounts.
In detail
Journal Entry is the default voucher type and the one to use for any adjustment that does not involve a bank account: reclassifying an expense booked under the wrong head, accruing income or costs at month end, writing off a small balance, or moving an amount between cost centers. It posts whatever balanced rows you give it, nothing is implied. The type is a label that helps filtering in the General Ledger and the Journal Entry list, and it keeps bank movements, which belong under Bank Entry, out of the bank reconciliation queue. The figures below move Rs 10,000 of advertising that was booked to Miscellaneous Expenses into Advertising and Promotion.
Accounting entry
| Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| Advertising and Promotion - YFF | Rs 10,000 | |
| Miscellaneous Expenses - YFF | Rs 10,000 |
