Serial No Ledger
Every stock movement of one serial number in date order.
In detail
Serial No Ledger is the Stock Ledger for one serial number: every movement of that unit in date order, with the voucher, the warehouse it entered or left, the quantity (always one) and the valuation rate carried. It is built from Stock Ledger Entries and the bundles that name the serial. Where Serial No and Batch Traceability shows the chain of documents, this shows the ledger rows, including the rate at which the unit was received and the cost it charged when sold. Use it when a customer returns a unit and you need its original cost and purchase date, or when a serial shows in the wrong warehouse. It posts nothing.
Formula
Rows = Stock Ledger Entries whose bundle contains the serial; each carries qty +1 or -1 and the unit's rate
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Stock > Serial No Ledger.
- 02Pick the Item and the Serial No; optionally a Warehouse and date range.
- 03Read each row: Posting Date, Voucher, Warehouse, Qty and Valuation Rate.
- 04Note the first row for the purchase cost and date, and the last for its current place.
- 05Fix a wrong location with a Material Transfer Stock Entry naming the serial.
