Stock Ledger
Every stock movement in date order: receipt, issue, transfer, with quantity, rate and balance after each.
In detail
Stock Ledger lists every stock movement in date and time order with the voucher that caused it, the quantity in or out, the incoming rate, the valuation rate after the move, the balance quantity and the balance value. It is the audit trail behind Stock Balance, read straight from Stock Ledger Entries, and the place to trace why an item shows 7 when the shelf has 9. Each row's value change equals the GL posting on Stock In Hand - YFF for the same voucher. Cancelled documents appear as reversing rows, not gaps, which is how the no deletion rule is visible for stock. Use it per item and warehouse; across everything it is too long to read.
Formula
Balance qty after a row = previous balance qty + qty change; balance value = balance qty x valuation rate
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Stock > Stock Ledger.
- 02Set From Date and To Date, then pick the Item Code and usually the Warehouse.
- 03Optionally filter by Voucher Type, Batch or Serial No.
- 04Read each row: In Qty or Out Qty, Incoming Rate, Valuation Rate, Balance Qty and Balance Value.
- 05Click the Voucher No to open the Purchase Receipt, Delivery Note or Stock Entry behind it.
- 06Find the row where the balance diverges from the count and post a Stock Reconciliation there.
When to use it
Open to trace how one item's quantity reached its current balance.
Example from the demo books
An item shows the opening entry, a purchase receipt and the delivery note that reduced it.
