In detail
A Work Order with status Not Started has been submitted but no material has been transferred and no Job Card has begun. This card counts them, showing production that is planned and queued. The demo books show 0. Nothing posts to the ledger at this stage. A growing queue while WIP stays flat means the floor cannot keep up with planning; a long queue of old orders usually means they should be closed rather than left open.
Formula
Open Work Orders = Count of Work Order where status = Not Started
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Manufacturing and read the card.
- 02Click the card to open the Work Order list filtered to Not Started.
- 03Open the oldest order and start it with Create > Start, which transfers materials.
- 04There is no period filter on this card.
- 05Close orders that will never run from the Status menu so the queue is honest.
When to use it
Production queued for later.
