Currency Exchange Settings
Configures which online service fetches exchange rates and how. No ledger effect.
In detail
Currency Exchange Settings is a single page that tells BRAccount where to fetch exchange rates it does not already have: the online service, the request URL and parameters, and the part of the reply that holds the rate. When a foreign currency document is created and no Currency Exchange record exists for the date, the system calls this service and saves the result as a new record. It posts nothing. Disable automatic fetching if your bank's rates differ from the service's and you prefer to type each rate, which is common for INR where the fixed peg applies anyway. Set it once and revisit only if the service stops answering.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Invoicing > Currency Exchange Settings.
- 02Pick the Service Provider or set a custom API endpoint with its parameters.
- 03Tick Disable if you want to enter every rate by hand instead.
- 04Save; the next foreign currency document without a stored rate uses this setting.
When to use it
Open Accounts > Currency Exchange Settings once; disable it to enter rates by hand.
Example from the demo books
