Currency Exchange
A stored exchange rate between two currencies on a date. No ledger effect; used to convert foreign documents to NPR.
In detail
A Currency Exchange record stores one rate between two currencies on a date, for example USD to NPR 134.50 on 2026-08-31, and whether it is for buying, selling or both. When you raise a Sales Invoice in USD to a foreign tour operator or enter an INR supplier bill, BRAccount looks here for the rate of that date and converts every amount into NPR for the ledger; the GL is always kept in NPR. The record itself posts nothing. If no rate exists for the date, the document fetches one from the online service or asks you to type it. Rates typed by hand are the ones the auditor will ask you to justify.
Formula
NPR amount = Foreign amount x Exchange rate; USD 1,000 x 134.50 = Rs 1,34,500
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Invoicing > Currency Exchange > New.
- 02Set the Date, From Currency USD, To Currency NPR and the Exchange Rate 134.50.
- 03Tick For Buying and or For Selling, then Save.
- 04Create the foreign currency invoice; its Exchange Rate field fills from this record.
- 05Check the NPR totals on the invoice before you Submit.
When to use it
Enter under Setup > Currency Exchange when you bill or pay in USD or INR, or let it fetch automatically.
