Pegged Currencies

Lists currency pairs with a fixed rate, such as INR to NPR 1.60, so rates are never fetched. No ledger effect.

In detail

Pegged Currencies is a single settings page listing currency pairs whose rate is fixed by law or agreement, so BRAccount never fetches them online. The main case in Nepal is INR to NPR at 1.60, which Nepal Rastra Bank keeps constant. A pair listed here is used at its fixed rate on every document, regardless of the date, and no Currency Exchange record is needed. It posts nothing. Listing the peg avoids the small daily wobble an online service would return and the exchange gain or loss rows that wobble would create on Indian supplier bills. Add a peg only when the rate really is fixed.

Formula

NPR amount = Foreign amount x Pegged rate; INR 10,000 x 1.60 = Rs 16,000

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Invoicing > Pegged Currencies.
  2. 02Add a row with Source Currency INR, Target Currency NPR and Rate 1.60.
  3. 03Save; any INR document now converts at 1.60 without a Currency Exchange record.
  4. 04Enter an INR Purchase Invoice and confirm the Exchange Rate shows 1.60.

When to use it

Open Accounts > Pegged Currencies and add the pair and rate.
