Warehouse Type

A label on warehouses. Only Transit changes behaviour, marking the in between store for two step transfers. No ledger effect.

In detail

Warehouse Type is a label such as Stores, Retail, Transit or Scrap that you attach to warehouses for grouping and reporting. Only one type changes behaviour: Transit. A warehouse marked Transit becomes the halfway stop for two step Material Transfers, where goods leave the source store, sit in transit while the truck is on the road, and are received at the destination with a second Stock Entry. Stock in a transit warehouse still sits in Stock In Hand - YFF, so the Balance Sheet is unaffected, but the Stock Balance report shows it apart from both stores. Other types are purely descriptive filters.

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Stock > Warehouse Type > New.
  2. 02Type the name, such as Transit or Retail, and save.
  3. 03Open the Warehouse, pick the Warehouse Type and save.
  4. 04For transfers via transit, use Stock Entry Material Transfer with Add to Transit ticked.
  5. 05Filter Stock Balance by Warehouse Type to see stock in transit at month end.

When to use it

Create under Stock > Warehouse Type and set it on the Warehouse.

Example from the demo books
