Item Manufacturer

Links an item to a Manufacturer and its part number. No ledger effect.

In detail

Item Manufacturer links one Item to a Manufacturer master together with that maker's part number, so the same stock item can be sourced from several makers without creating duplicate items. A laptop item might map to Dell with model DL5520 and to another maker with their code; on a Purchase Order you choose which manufacturer part is being bought and the printed order shows their number. One record can be marked as the item's default. It changes no quantities and no accounts, but it keeps the Item list clean and lets Purchase Analytics compare makers of the same item.

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Stock > Manufacturer and make sure the maker exists.
  2. 02Go to Stock > Item Manufacturer > New.
  3. 03Pick the Item, the Manufacturer and type the Manufacturer Part Number.
  4. 04Tick Is Default if this maker is the usual source.
  5. 05Save. On a Purchase Order item row, pick the Manufacturer and part number.

When to use it

Create under Stock > Item Manufacturer when the same item comes from several makers.
