Manufacturer
The company that makes an item, as a master. No ledger effect.
In detail
Manufacturer is the master list of companies that make the goods you stock, separate from Supplier because the firm you buy from is often a distributor rather than the maker. Dell makes the laptop even when a Kathmandu dealer sells it to you. Items link to a maker through the Manufacturer field or through Item Manufacturer records that carry part numbers. The master holds a name, a website and notes, and it is used for filtering reports and printing part numbers on purchase documents. It has no ledger effect; invoices and payments always go to the Supplier, never to the Manufacturer.
