Brand
The maker's brand on an item, for reporting and defaults. No ledger effect.
In detail
Brand is a small master that records the maker's brand name on an Item, such as Dell, Samsung or a local tea estate. It does not touch quantities or accounts; its job is reporting and defaults. Once items carry a brand you can filter Stock Balance, Sales Analytics and Purchase Analytics by brand to see which brands sell, which sit on the shelf and which supplier is tied to each. Brand Defaults can also carry a default warehouse, income or expense account per company, which saves setting them item by item for a large branded range. Leaving brand blank costs nothing, but once used it should be used consistently.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Stock > Brand > New (the search bar also finds it).
- 02Type the brand name, such as Dell, and an optional description.
- 03Add Brand Defaults for the company if the brand needs its own warehouse or accounts.
- 04Save, then open each Item and pick the Brand in the Details section.
- 05Filter Stock Balance or Sales Analytics by Brand to read brand wise figures.
When to use it
Create under Setup > Brand and pick it on the Item.
Example from the demo books
