Item Lead Time
Stores how many days a supplier takes to deliver an item. No ledger effect.
In detail
Item Lead Time stores how many days pass between ordering an item and receiving it, per supplier where known. BRAccount updates it when Purchase Receipts are submitted against Purchase Orders, comparing the order date with the receipt date, and the Item form also carries a manual Lead Time in Days. The number feeds reorder planning: the Itemwise Recommended Reorder Level report multiplies daily consumption by lead time, and Material Requests raised by auto reorder use it to decide how early to buy. A lead time that is too short leaves the shelf empty for a week; too long ties cash up in stock. It never posts to the ledger.
Formula
Lead time days = receipt date - purchase order date, averaged over recent receipts of the item
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Stock > Item Lead Time to see the days recorded per item and supplier.
- 02Open an Item, Inventory tab, and set Lead Time in Days by hand if receipts are rare.
- 03Submit Purchase Receipts against Purchase Orders so the days update automatically.
- 04Open Itemwise Recommended Reorder Level and check the lead time column it uses.
- 05Adjust reorder levels on the Item where the suggested figure looks right.
When to use it
Updated automatically from receipts; used for reorder planning.
Example from the demo books
Dell laptop lead time 7 days.
