UOM Conversion Factor
A standard factor between two units in a category. No ledger effect.
In detail
A UOM Conversion Factor is the global ratio between two units of the same category, such as 1 Kg = 1,000 Gram or 1 Box = 12 Nos. When a user picks a different UOM on a document row, BRAccount looks up the factor to convert the quantity into the item's stock UOM and the rate the other way, so the stock ledger stays in one unit and the valuation rate stays comparable. Item specific factors on the Item's UOM table override the global ones, which is how one supplier's box of 10 and another's box of 12 coexist. A wrong factor multiplies or divides every quantity and cost it touches, so verify it with a real receipt.
Formula
Qty in stock UOM = qty in document UOM x conversion factor
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Stock > UOM Conversion Factor > New.
- 02Pick the Category, the From UOM and the To UOM.
- 03Enter the Value, for example 12 for Box to Nos.
- 04Save. On an Item, the UOM Conversion table can pull this factor automatically.
- 05Test with a Purchase Receipt of 1 Box and confirm Stock Balance shows 12 Nos.
When to use it
Predefined; add under Setup > UOM Conversion Factor for custom units.
