Stock Entry Type
A named purpose for Stock Entries that presets the purpose and accounts. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Stock Entry Type is a named preset that opens a Stock Entry with its Purpose already chosen, so users pick Material Transfer or Material Receipt from a short list instead of understanding the underlying purpose field. The standard types match the purposes one to one: Material Issue, Material Receipt, Material Transfer, Material Transfer for Manufacture, Material Consumption for Manufacture, Manufacture, Repack, Send to Subcontractor, Disassemble. You can add your own, such as Sample Issue or Damaged Write Off, that map to Material Issue but are easy to filter in reports. The type itself never posts; the purpose it maps to decides the ledger entry. Keep the list short so staff pick correctly.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Stock > Stock Entry Type to see the standard presets.
- 02Click New, type a name such as Damaged Write Off, and pick the Purpose Material Issue.
- 03Save. The type now appears in the Stock Entry Type field on new Stock Entries.
- 04Filter the Stock Entry list by this type to review all write offs in a period.
When to use it
Predefined; add under Stock > Stock Entry Type for custom purposes.
