Stock Ledger Entry

One line per item, warehouse and movement, with quantity, rate and running value. The stock equivalent of a GL Entry.

In detail

A Stock Ledger Entry is one row written every time a stock document is submitted: item, warehouse, posting date and time, quantity change, incoming rate, valuation rate after the move, quantity after the move and the running stock value. It is the stock side twin of the GL Entry, and the two must agree: the stock value difference on each row equals the amount the same voucher debited or credited to Stock In Hand. Cancelling a document writes a reversing row rather than deleting, which satisfies the IRD rule of no deletion. The Stock Ledger and Stock Balance reports are simply views of these rows, so when a balance looks wrong this is where to trace it.

Formula

Qty after transaction = previous qty + actual qty change; stock value = qty after x valuation rate

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Type Stock Ledger Entry in the search bar and open the list, or open the Stock Ledger report.
  2. 02Filter by Item Code, Warehouse and a date range.
  3. 03Read Actual Qty (positive in, negative out), Incoming Rate, Valuation Rate and Qty After Transaction.
  4. 04Click the Voucher No to open the document that wrote the row.
  5. 05Compare Stock Value Difference with the GL Entry on Stock In Hand - YFF for that voucher.

When to use it

Read only; see the Stock Ledger report.
