Stock Closing Balance
The stored per item, per warehouse balance written by a Stock Closing Entry. No ledger effect.
In detail
Stock Closing Balance is the stored snapshot a Stock Closing Entry writes: for each item, warehouse and batch, the closing quantity, closing value and valuation rate on the closing date. It is read only and generated, never typed. When a report asks for a period after the closing date, it takes these rows as the opening position and adds only the Stock Ledger Entries after it, which keeps reports fast as years of data accumulate. It carries no GL effect, but it is the figure that should match the Stock In Hand - YFF balance on the same date and the inventory line reported in the annual accounts.
Formula
Closing value = closing qty x valuation rate on the closing date, per item and warehouse
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Submit a Stock Closing Entry for the period.
- 02Type Stock Closing Balance in the search bar and open the list.
- 03Filter by the Stock Closing Entry, Item or Warehouse to read the stored figures.
- 04Compare the total with Stock In Hand - YFF in the Trial Balance on the same date.
- 05Keep the figures with the year end file; they support the inventory note in the accounts.
