Shipment
Records a courier shipment with parcels, pickup and delivery addresses. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Shipment records the courier leg of a delivery: pickup address and contact, delivery address, the parcels with dimensions and weight, the carrier, tracking number and shipment value. It is created from a Delivery Note so the link between goods, customer and consignment is kept, and it can be used for a shipment to Pokhara by bus counter just as well as an international courier. It does not move stock or post to the ledger; the courier's bill is a separate Purchase Invoice to a freight expense or, for imports, to Expenses Included In Valuation. Submitting it locks the consignment details for later claims.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Open the submitted Delivery Note and click Create > Shipment.
- 02Confirm the pickup and delivery addresses and contacts.
- 03Add parcel rows, or pick a Shipment Parcel Template, with weight and dimensions.
- 04Enter the carrier, service and tracking number once booked.
- 05Submit. Record the courier's bill later as a Purchase Invoice.
When to use it
Create from a Delivery Note under Stock > Shipment. Submitted shipments lock.
Example from the demo books
