Putaway Rule
Tells the system which warehouse to put received items in, by priority and capacity. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Putaway Rule tells a Purchase Receipt or Material Receipt where to put an item: for each item and warehouse you set a capacity and a priority, and when goods arrive the system fills the highest priority warehouse up to its free capacity and spills the rest to the next. It replaces the clerk's guess with a standing instruction, so caps go to Koteshwor Store - YFF first up to 200 Nos and overflow to Stores - YFF. The rule changes which warehouse appears on the row, nothing more; stock and ledger postings follow the warehouse chosen. Keep capacities honest or the rule will keep sending goods to a full shelf.
Formula
Free capacity = capacity - current stock qty in that warehouse; receipt fills warehouses in priority order
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Stock > Putaway Rule > New.
- 02Pick the Item, the Warehouse and the Priority (1 is filled first).
- 03Enter the Capacity in the item's stock UOM and save.
- 04Repeat for the overflow warehouse with priority 2.
- 05On a Purchase Receipt, tick Apply Putaway Rule; rows split by warehouse on save.
- 06Submit the receipt; stock lands in the warehouses the rule chose.
When to use it
Create under Stock > Putaway Rule; receipts apply it automatically.
