Customs Tariff Number
Also called: HS code
The harmonised customs code for an item, printed on export and import documents. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Customs Tariff Number is the HS code, the harmonised system classification customs uses worldwide, such as 9401 for seats and chairs or 8471 for laptops. Nepal Customs assesses import duty by this code and the IRD expects it on export invoices claiming the 0% VAT rate under Schedule 2, so the Item should carry it before the first import or export. BRAccount prints the code on invoices, Delivery Notes and shipment papers and the Nepal IRD export documents pick it up. The master holds the code and a description; it has no stock or ledger effect. Agree the code with your customs agent, because a wrong code means wrong duty and a dispute at the border.

- 01Go to Stock > Customs Tariff Number > New.
- 02Type the Tariff Number, such as 9401, and a description.
- 03Save, then open the Item and set Customs Tariff Number on the Details section.
- 04Check the print of an export Sales Invoice or Delivery Note shows the HS code.
