Company setup and closing

Company

The legal entity whose books you keep: name, abbreviation, currency, PAN, default accounts and cost center. No ledger effect itself.

In detail

The Company record is the legal entity whose books BRAccount keeps, and every invoice, payment and ledger line belongs to exactly one. It stores the name, the abbreviation that is suffixed to every account and cost center (YFF in the demo), the currency NPR, the PAN that prints on invoices and goes to CBMS, and the default accounts: Debtors, Creditors, Cash, Bank, Round Off, Cost of Goods Sold and the default cost center. Creating it also builds the Chart of Accounts tree. The record posts nothing itself, but a wrong default here, such as the wrong receivable account, is copied onto every new document until corrected.

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Accounts Setup > Company > New.
  2. 02Enter the legal name, a short abbreviation, country Nepal and currency NPR.
  3. 03Choose Create Chart of Accounts Based On a standard template, or leave it to import later.
  4. 04Save. The chart and the root cost center are created with the abbreviation.
  5. 05Open the company again and fill the PAN and the Default Accounts section.
  6. 06Set the default cost center and the Round Off account, then Save.

When to use it

Create under Setup > Company once; every document belongs to a company.
