Company setup and closing

Fiscal Year

The accounting year that reports and closing run on. Nepal years run Shrawan 1 to Ashadh end. No ledger effect.

In detail

A Fiscal Year is the twelve month period that reports, budgets and the year end close run on. In Nepal it begins on Shrawan 1 and ends on Ashadh end, so the demo year 2083-2084 runs from 2026-07-17 to 2027-07-16 and 2082-2083 before it is closed. Every posting date must fall inside a Fiscal Year that lists the company, otherwise the document is refused, which is why the next year must be created before Shrawan 1. The Fiscal Year itself posts nothing. Reports like Profit and Loss and the Period Closing Voucher use it as the default range, and the IRD return of income is filed per fiscal year.

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Invoicing > Fiscal Year > New.
  2. 02Name it in the Nepali form, for example 2084-2085.
  3. 03Enter Year Start Date 2027-07-17 and Year End Date 2028-07-16 (Shrawan 1 to Ashadh end).
  4. 04In the Companies table add Yatra For Fun Pvt Ltd.
  5. 05Save. Documents dated inside the range can now be posted.
  6. 06After the old year's Period Closing Voucher, lock it with an Accounting Period.
