Repost Item Valuation

Recalculates stock values and the related GL entries after a back dated transaction. It updates Stock and Cost of Goods Sold entries.

In detail

Repost Item Valuation is the background job that recalculates stock values after a back dated or cancelled transaction, because under moving average or FIFO every later movement depends on the ones before it. When a Purchase Receipt is entered for last week, every delivery of that item since then was costed without it; the repost recomputes the valuation rates, rewrites the Stock Ledger Entry values and posts correcting GL entries on Stock In Hand and Cost of Goods Sold so the ledger matches. It is created automatically on submit or cancel and runs in the queue. A failed repost leaves the books inconsistent, so check the list after back dated work and retry errors.

Formula

Correction = (new valuation rate - old valuation rate) x qty of each later outgoing movement

Accounting entry

AccountDebitCredit
Cost of Goods Sold - YFFRs 500
Stock In Hand - YFFRs 500

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Submit or cancel a back dated stock document; a Repost Item Valuation is created for you.
  2. 02Go to Stock > Repost Item Valuation and filter Status: Queued, In Progress, Failed.
  3. 03Open a Failed row, read the error, fix the cause (often a missing account) and click Restart.
  4. 04Wait for Status Completed; the entry above posts if the delivered cost rose by Rs 500.
  5. 05Run Stock and Account Value Comparison to confirm stock and ledger agree again.

When to use it

Created automatically; open Stock > Repost Item Valuation to see status or retry failures.
