Warehouse: Work In Progress - YFF
Items part way through manufacture or assembly.
In detail
Work In Progress - YFF is the warehouse for material that has been issued to production but is not yet a finished product: fabric cut for T-shirts, parts partly assembled. A Work Order first transfers raw material from Stores into this warehouse with a Material Transfer for Manufacture; the later Manufacture Stock Entry consumes it here and receives the finished item into Finished Goods. The value stays inside Stock In Hand - YFF the whole time, so the Balance Sheet shows one inventory figure, but Stock Balance filtered by this warehouse tells you how much money is tied up on the shop floor. Any balance left here after the Work Order closes is a sign of unposted consumption or waste.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Create a Work Order under Manufacturing and set Work In Progress - YFF as its WIP warehouse.
- 02Click Start to make a Material Transfer for Manufacture from Stores - YFF to WIP.
- 03Submit it; quantities move into Work In Progress - YFF.
- 04Click Finish to make the Manufacture Stock Entry that consumes WIP and receives Finished Goods.
- 05Check Stock Balance for Work In Progress - YFF; it should return to zero when orders close.
When to use it
Used by Manufacture Stock Entries between raw material and finished goods.
