Supplier Quotation
A supplier's quoted prices in reply to your request. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Supplier Quotation records the prices a supplier has offered you for specific items, usually in reply to a Request for Quotation but it can be entered on its own. It posts nothing. Each quotation holds the supplier, the item rows with quoted rates, the validity date and the supplier's terms, and once submitted it locks so the offer cannot be quietly changed. The Supplier Quotation Comparison report lays several quotations for the same item next to each other, and the winning quotation converts straight into a Purchase Order, carrying the agreed rates so the invoice later matches what was quoted. Expired quotations can be marked Expired to keep the list clean.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Buying > Supplier Quotation > New, or open the Request for Quotation and click Create > Supplier Quotation.
- 02Pick the supplier, set Valid Till, and enter the quoted rate on each item row.
- 03Add the supplier's taxes and terms, then Save and Submit; the quotation locks.
- 04Compare it with others in Financial Reports > Supplier Quotation Comparison.
- 05On the winning quotation click Create > Purchase Order; the rates carry over.
When to use it
Enter under Buying > Supplier Quotation, compare in the Supplier Quotation Comparison report, then convert the winner to a Purchase Order.
