Buying and bills

Account type: Payable

Also called: Creditors

Marks an account as Creditors. Purchase Invoices post what you owe suppliers here and Payment Entries clear it, party by party.

In detail

Account type Payable marks an account as the one that holds money you owe suppliers, and every posting to it must carry a party. That rule lets BRAccount keep a balance per supplier: the Accounts Payable report ages each bill by due date, the General Ledger can be filtered by supplier, and a Payment Entry of type Pay can list that supplier's open bills. Creditors - YFF is the single payable account in the demo chart and the company default, so each Purchase Invoice credits it and each Pay entry debits it. The balance should equal the total of unpaid bills; if it does not, a Journal Entry was posted to it without a party and must be corrected.

Formula

Creditors balance = Opening + Purchase Invoice payables - Payments - Debit notes; demo: Rs 40,000 + Rs 1,00,000 = Rs 1,40,000

AccountDebitCredit
Office Equipment - YFF (Dell laptop, ACC-PINV-2026-00005)Rs 1,00,000
