Supplier Group
A tree classifying suppliers, such as Hardware, Services or Distributor, with optional default payment terms. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Supplier Group is a label in a tree, such as Hardware, Services, Distributor or Office Suppliers, that every supplier must belong to. It has no ledger effect. It can carry a default Payment Terms Template so new suppliers in the group inherit the same credit days, and it is a filter and grouping column on the Purchase Register, Purchase Analytics and the Accounts Payable Summary, which lets you see how much of your spending goes to each kind of vendor. For TDS reporting it also helps to group suppliers by the nature of what they provide, since rent, contracts and consultancy carry different withholding rates.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Buying > Supplier Group > New.
- 02Enter the name and pick the parent, usually All Supplier Groups.
- 03Optionally set a default Payment Terms Template, then Save.
- 04Pick the group on each Supplier form.
- 05Open Financial Reports > Purchase Register and filter by Supplier Group to compare vendors.
