Dashboard charts
Profit and Loss
Bar chart of income and expense per period from the Profit and Loss Statement report.
In detail
This bar chart runs the Profit and Loss Statement report with the chart's saved filters, usually monthly periods for the current fiscal year, and draws income and expense per period. It gives the monthly profit trend without opening the full report. The month of the Jivan Dahal invoice shows Rs 32,000 of income, VAT excluded. Because it is report based, it respects the same rules as the statement: only posted GL rows, Period Closing Vouchers excluded. A month where expense bars tower over income is a loss month.
Formula
Each period = Income total and Expense total from the Profit and Loss Statement report, grouped monthly for the fiscal year
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Financial Reports; the chart sits under the donuts.
- 02Hover a bar to read income or expense for that month.
- 03To change the range, open the chart menu > Edit and set Fiscal Year or Periodicity in the report filters.
- 04Click the chart to open the full Profit and Loss Statement with the same filters.
- 05Investigate any loss month through Expense Breakdown and General Ledger.
