Bank Statement Import Log

Row by row result of an import, with errors for lines that failed. No ledger effect.

In detail

A Bank Statement Import Log is the row by row result of one Bank Statement Import. It lists each line of the file, whether it became a Bank Transaction, and the error for any line that did not: a date the mapping could not read, a missing amount, or a duplicate reference already imported. It posts nothing and is not edited by hand. Read it when the count of transactions created is lower than the rows in the file. The usual fix is to correct the offending rows in the spreadsheet, or the column mapping, and import again; already imported lines are skipped by reference number, so a second run does not double count.

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Open the Bank Statement Import and click the link to its log, or go to Banking > Bank Statement Import Log.
  2. 02Filter the rows by Success unticked to see the failures.
  3. 03Read the error message on each failed row, for example a date format not recognised.
  4. 04Fix the file or the column mapping and run the import again.

When to use it

Read only; open it to fix rows that did not import.

Example from the demo books

Line 42 failed: date format 2083/05/15 not recognised.
