Bank Clearance
An older tool to set the clearance date on cheques and payments directly. It sets the clearance date only.
In detail
Bank Clearance is the older, simpler way to record when cheques and transfers cleared the bank, used by businesses that do not import statements. Pick the bank account and a date range and it lists every Payment Entry and Bank Entry on that account without a clearance date; you type the clearance date from the paper statement against each and click Update. Nothing posts and no amounts change; only the Clearance Date field on each voucher is set, which is what the Bank Reconciliation Statement uses to separate cleared items from cheques still in transit. It is quick for a handful of cheques a month and useless for a busy account with hundreds of lines.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Banking > Bank Clearance.
- 02Pick the Bank Account and the From and To dates, then click Get Payment Entries.
- 03Against each voucher enter the Clearance Date shown on the bank statement.
- 04Tick Include Reconciled Entries only if you need to correct a date already set.
- 05Click Update Clearance Date; the vouchers are stamped and nothing posts.
- 06Open Financial Reports > Bank Reconciliation Statement to see the remaining uncleared items.
When to use it
Open Accounts > Bank Clearance when you do not import statements.
