Bank Account Subtype

A finer label under a type, such as Call Deposit or Overdraft. No ledger effect.

In detail

Bank Account Subtype is an optional finer label under the Bank Account Type, such as Call Deposit under Savings or Working Capital under Overdraft. Like the type it holds only a name, posts nothing and exists for filtering and clarity. Most small businesses never need it; it becomes useful when a company holds many accounts at several banks and the owner wants the list to say at a glance which overdraft is the working capital line and which is a project facility. Define subtypes only when there are at least two accounts to tell apart, otherwise the field adds a click with no benefit.

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Banking > Bank Account Subtype > New.
  2. 02Enter the name, for example Working Capital, and Save.
  3. 03Open the Bank Account and pick the subtype below the Bank Account Type.

When to use it

Optional; add under Accounts > Bank Account Subtype.

Example from the demo books
