Bank Reconciliation Tool
Lists unmatched Bank Transactions and lets you match them, create payments or journals, and see the reconciled balance. Matching clears entries.
In detail
The Bank Reconciliation Tool is where the book balance and the bank statement are made to agree. Pick the company bank account and a date range; it shows the opening and closing balance per the books, the closing balance per the bank, and every unreconciled Bank Transaction. For each line you match it to an existing Payment Entry or Journal Entry, or create one from it, or mark a transfer between your own accounts. Matching posts nothing: it writes the transaction's date into the voucher's Clearance Date, and only vouchers with a clearance date count towards the reconciled balance. Vouchers you create from the tool post as usual. The month is done when the two closing figures are equal.
Formula
Closing per books = Opening balance + Cleared receipts - Cleared payments; must equal Closing per bank statement
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Banking > Bank Reconciliation Tool.
- 02Pick the Company, the Bank Account and the From and To dates of the statement.
- 03Enter the Bank Statement Closing Balance from the statement or the stored Bank Account Balance.
- 04Click Get Bank Transactions; the unreconciled lines appear in the table below.
- 05Open a line, pick the matching Payment Entry or Journal Entry in the list and click Reconcile.
- 06For a line with no voucher, choose Create Voucher and make a Payment Entry or Journal Entry from it.
- 07Repeat until the Difference shows zero; each matched voucher now carries its clearance date.
