Balance Sheet

Assets, liabilities and equity on a chosen date, summed from GL Entry. Assets always equal liabilities plus equity.

In detail

The Balance Sheet is a photograph of the company on one date: what it owns, what it owes and what is left for the shareholders. BRAccount builds it by summing every GL Entry up to the To Date for each account under the Asset, Liability and Equity roots. A Nepali private limited company files it yearly with the Company Registrar and the IRD, and a bank asks for it before lending. Profit for the current year sits inside equity as an unclosed figure until the Period Closing Voucher moves it into Retained Earnings. If the two sides do not agree, a voucher has posted to a group account or the ledger needs reposting.

Formula

Total Assets = Total Liabilities + Total Equity (Share Capital + Retained Earnings + profit of the period not yet closed)

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Financial Reports > Balance Sheet, or type the name in the search bar.
  2. 02Set Company to Yatra For Fun Pvt Ltd, Fiscal Year 2083-2084 and Periodicity Yearly or Monthly.
  3. 03Tick Include Default Book Entries; leave Finance Book blank unless you keep a separate tax book.
  4. 04Read the Asset root first: cash and bank Rs 25,68,160 and fixed assets Rs 1,40,000 less depreciation.
  5. 05Check Liabilities for VAT Payable Rs 4,160 and Creditors Rs 1,40,000, then Equity for Share Capital Rs 25,00,000.
  6. 06Confirm Total Assets equals Total Liabilities plus Equity; if not, run Invalid Ledger Entries before anything else.
  7. 07Click any amount to drill down to the General Ledger, then use Menu > Export for the auditor or bank.

When to use it
