Trial Balance
Every ledger account with opening balance, debits, credits and closing balance for a period, from GL Entry. Totals must match.
In detail
The Trial Balance lists every ledger account with its opening balance, total debits, total credits and closing balance for the period, built from GL Entry. Because every voucher in BRAccount posts equal debits and credits, the two grand totals must always match; the demo books total Rs 26,48,800 on each side. Accountants run it before closing a month or year and before handing books to the auditor, since it is the quickest proof that nothing posted one sided. It does not prove the postings went to the right accounts, only that they balance, so a rent bill posted to Furniture would still tally.
Formula
For each account Closing = Opening + Debits - Credits; Sum of all debit closings = Sum of all credit closings (Rs 26,48,800 in the demo)
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Financial Reports > Trial Balance.
- 02Set Company, Fiscal Year 2083-2084 and From Date and To Date for the month or year you are closing.
- 03Tick Include Default Book Entries and Show Zero Values if you want every account listed.
- 04Read the Opening, Debit, Credit and Closing columns; the bottom row totals Rs 26,48,800 on both sides.
- 05If the totals differ, run Invalid Ledger Entries and then Repost Accounting Ledger for the vouchers it lists.
- 06Click an account to drill into the General Ledger and trace any balance that looks unusual.
- 07Export with Menu > Export and share it with the auditor as the base of the year end accounts.
When to use it
Run before closing a month or year. If debit and credit totals differ, something is posted wrong.
