Custom Financial Statement

A statement whose rows you define yourself in a Financial Statement template, filled from GL Entry.

In detail

The Custom Financial Statement lets you decide the rows yourself instead of accepting the standard layout. You first create a Financial Statement template that names each row, such as Cash, Fixed Assets or Capital, and maps it to accounts or account groups; the report then fills each row from GL Entry for the period. Nepali banks often send their own loan application format, so this saves retyping figures every month. The maths is the same as the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss, only the grouping differs. A row mapped to the wrong account gives a wrong figure that still looks tidy, so test the template against the Trial Balance once before trusting it.

Formula

Row value = Sum of closing balances of the accounts mapped to that row for the period

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Type Financial Statement in the search bar and create a new template with your row names.
  2. 02Map each row to accounts or account groups, for example Cash to the Cash and cash equivalents group.
  3. 03Go to Financial Reports > Custom Financial Statement and pick the template.
  4. 04Set Company, Fiscal Year, From Date and To Date, then run the report.
  5. 05Read the rows: Cash Rs 25,68,160, Fixed Assets Rs 1,40,000, Capital Rs 25,00,000 in the demo.
  6. 06Compare the totals with the Trial Balance for the same dates before sending the statement out.
  7. 07Export with Menu > Export in the format the bank or investor asked for.

When to use it

Use when a bank or investor wants a layout different from the standard balance sheet.

Example from the demo books

A template with rows Cash, Fixed Assets and Capital shows Rs 25,68,160, Rs 1,40,000 and Rs 25,00,000.
