Accounting Period
Locks a date range so no one can post chosen document types into it. No ledger effect.
In detail
An Accounting Period locks a date range so that nobody can post, cancel or amend chosen document types inside it. After a month is closed and the VAT return filed, or after the Period Closing Voucher for a year, a period with Sales Invoice, Purchase Invoice, Journal Entry and Payment Entry ticked stops a backdated entry from changing figures already reported to the IRD. It posts nothing. It is more precise than the Accounts Frozen Till Date in Accounts Settings because it is per company and per document type. Periods can overlap only if they close different document types.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Invoicing > Accounting Period > New.
- 02Name it, for example FY 2082-2083 Closed, and pick the company.
- 03Set Start Date 2025-07-17 and End Date 2026-07-16.
- 04In Closed Documents tick each document type to lock and set Closed on.
- 05Save. Any document dated in the range is refused on submit, cancel or amend.
When to use it
Create under Accounts > Accounting Period after a month or year is closed.
Example from the demo books
